Blackpink Set to Return With Album and World Tour in 2025
Yang Hyun-suk, founder of YG Entertainment, announced in a video on BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel that the award-winning K-pop group will reunite in 2025 with new music and embark on a world tour. He expressed anticipation for BLACKPINK’s comeback and their upcoming global tour.
Hyun-suk mentioned that efforts are underway to ensure many YG artists can connect with numerous fans.
Blackpink’s Last Tour
In 2022, BLACKPINK completed a successful tour with 66 shows and over 1.8 million tickets sold. While the group never disbanded, its members Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo signed individual contracts to pursue solo careers. They later re-signed collectively with YG Entertainment in 2023, as reported by the BBC.
On June 20, BLACKPINK announced on Instagram that their 2022 tour has been transformed into a concert film titled “BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR BORN PINK IN CINEMAS.” The film will start limited screenings on July 31.
What Is in Store for Now?
BLACKPINK announced on Weverse that they will host a special signing event on August 8 for 88 fans who demonstrate their love through fan letters, drawings, photos, or stories about their cherished memories with the group. The contest is exclusively for BLINK Membership subscribers.
Blackpink’s Return Continues Their Legacy
BLACKPINK, named for the blend of tough “black” and flirty “pink” elements in their music and stage presence, gained initial fame with their 2016 single “Boombayah,” which swiftly topped Billboard’s World Digital Songs chart.
BLACKPINK’s second studio album, “Born Pink” (2022), achieved top positions on both the U.S. and U.K. album charts, reinforcing their popularity. This success led to a headline performance at Coachella in 2023, further cementing their status in the global music scene.
Successful Solo Careers
Individually, each member of BLACKPINK has achieved notable success. Jisoo, for instance, starred in the JTBC historical K-drama series “Snowdrop,” which is also available for streaming on Disney+.
Jennie became the face of Seoul-based beauty company Hera in 2021 and starred in HBO’s “The Idol” alongside Lily-Rose Depp.
Rosé launched her solo project “R” in March 2021.
Lisa debuted her solo project “LALISA” in September 2021, featuring tracks like “Lalisa” and “Money.” “Lalisa” won the MTV Video Music Award for Best K-pop Video in 2022, set a Guinness World Record, and broke multiple YouTube viewership records.
Lisa also released “Rockstar” recently, which became a global hit.
