Shiloh Jolie, the 19-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has recently embraced a new chapter in her life, both personally and professionally.
Introducing herself as “Shi,” she made her artistic debut as a choreographer at the launch of Isabel Marant’s capsule collection with Net-A-Porter in Los Angeles on May 29. This event marked a significant moment, not just for her career but also in her journey of self-identification.
Embracing a New Name and Identity as Shi Jolie
Shi’s decision to adopt a new moniker follows her legal name change in August 2024, where she officially dropped her father’s surname, Pitt, from her name.

This move came shortly after her 18th birthday and was a personal choice reflecting her desire for autonomy and individuality. By choosing “Shi,” she not only creates a distinct identity but also pays homage to her mother, Angelina Jolie, by aligning more closely with her maternal lineage.
A Passion for Dance and Choreography
Shi’s appearance at the fashion event wasn’t just about a name change; it was a showcase of her talent and passion for dance. She choreographed a performance set to singer-songwriter Luella’s new song “Naïve,” performed by dancers Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuki. The emotionally charged routine highlighted Shi’s ability to convey deep narratives through movement, marking her emergence as a creative force in the dance community.
A Family of Individual Paths
Shi isn’t the only member of the Jolie-Pitt family forging her own path. Her sister Vivienne, 16, recently worked as a producer’s assistant for the Broadway production of “The Outsiders,” where she was credited as “Vivienne Jolie.” These choices reflect a broader trend within the family, where the children are exploring their identities and careers, often stepping away from the shadows of their famous parents.
Navigating Public and Private Life
Despite their public appearances, Angelina Jolie has emphasized her children’s preference for privacy. In a 2024 interview, she noted that while some of her children are interested in behind-the-scenes roles, they generally value their privacy and are cautious about public exposure. Shi, in particular, is described as “extremely private,” making her recent public debut as a choreographer all the more significant.
A New Chapter Begins for the Jolie Family
Shi Jolie’s journey reflects a young woman coming into her own, embracing her passions, and defining her identity on her terms. Her debut as a choreographer and her choice to adopt a new name signify a step towards independence and self-expression. As she continues to explore her artistic talents, Shi represents a new generation carving out their paths with confidence and creativity.
