The Law Society of Kenya revealed that Mwenda accessed their system fraudulently and manipulated details to create a fake identity, including uploading his photo in an attempt to infiltrate the legal profession. Further analysis showed that he stole the identity of a legitimate lawyer with a similar name, Brian Mwenda Ntwiga, who reported the issue when he couldn’t access the system. It was discovered that the imposter used the wrong email address and falsely claimed to have been admitted to the Bar in August 2022. The legitimate lawyer confirmed that he had not applied for a practicing certificate since he had been working at the Office of the Attorney General and didn’t require one.
