What We Know So Far About Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Divorce

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, aged 32, ended her brief marriage to school teacher Ryan Scott Anderson, just three months after her release from prison. Blanchard announced the separation on a private Facebook account. Moreover, this development follows her recent release from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, where she served seven years of a ten-year sentence for her role in conspiring to kill her mother, Dee Dee, who was murdered by her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn.

What Did Her Post Say?

Blanchard wrote on Facebook: “People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find … who I am.

What Did She Plan Before Her Divorce?

Before her release in December, Blanchard expressed her intention to marry Anderson again once free. They planned to have a reception with family and friends to celebrate properly. Blanchard explained that their initial prison wedding was personal, while the reception would be more for others. She was excited about moving in with Anderson, having never lived with a man before.

After her release, Blanchard openly expressed satisfaction with her sex life, defending her husband against online criticism. She declared her love for him and praised their intimate relationship, stating that he was “rocking her world every night.” Anderson responded playfully, indicating he wasn’t bothered by critics and inviting her affectionately.

What Was Gypsy Rose Blanchard Charged for?

Blanchard was charged with the killing of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, in 2015, to which she admitted second-degree murder. She provided a knife to her then-boyfriend Godejohn, who stabbed her mother while she hid in the bathroom. Godejohn was also arrested and charged with the murder.

Dee Dee Blanchard was found dead on June 14, 2015, having been stabbed 17 times in her sleep by Godejohn, who received a life sentence without parole. It emerged that Dee Dee had subjected her daughter, Gypsy, to unnecessary medical treatments for years, convincing her and others of various serious illnesses.

Blanchard’s attorneys argued she was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a severe form of child abuse where a guardian fabricates or induces illness in a child for attention and sympathy.
