A woman who accused Jay-Z of rape was caught on tape saying her lawyer pushed her into suing him. In the recording, she admits she was pressured into taking legal action, even though she wasn’t sure about it.
The eligibility of her claims is now being questioned.
Woman Who Accused Jay-Z of Rape Caught on Tape Saying This
A woman who accused Jay-Z and Diddy of assault at the 2000 VMAs was recorded admitting Jay-Z didn’t assault her and that her lawyer pressured her to sue. Her lawsuit has since been permanently dropped.
ABC News obtained a recording of Jane Doe speaking with two private investigators connected to Jay-Z, where she discussed her lawsuit.

In a recorded conversation, a private investigator asked Jane Doe if the rapper was involved in any sexual acts, to which she replied, “Yeah,” confirming he wasn’t. Carter’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, denies the rapper ever met her. She also claimed her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, pressured her into suing him.
In the recording, Jane Doe claimed that her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, was the one who pushed her to move forward with the lawsuit against Jay-Z. When asked if Buzbee was responsible, she confirmed, “Yeah.” In response, Buzbee called her statement a “blatant lie,” insisting that it contradicted all the documentary evidence and denying he pressured her to file the case.
What Did Jay-Z’s Lawyer Have to Say?
Carter’s attorney, Alex Spiro, stated that the recording proves Jay-Z’s innocence, as Jane Doe clearly says he was not involved in the alleged assault. He emphasized that Jay-Z was only dragged into the situation because she was pressured to involve him. Jane Doe, however, maintained in a sworn declaration that she still stood by her accusations but dropped the lawsuit due to fear of intimidation and retaliation from Jay-Z and his fans.

Jane Doe denied telling the investigators that Buzbee sought her out as a client or encouraged her to make a false claim against Jay-Z. She described feeling “intimidated and terrified” when the investigators confronted her at her home, knowing her name and address. However, Carter’s attorney, Alex Spiro, insisted the investigators did not coerce or threaten her, stating she voluntarily met with them and told them her truth, which was that Jay-Z was not involved in the alleged assault.
How Did the Rapper React?
Jay-Z, one of the world’s best-selling artists and married to Beyoncé with three children, has been affected by the false accusations, according to his attorney, Alex Spiro. Spiro stated it’s hard to hear such lies spread online, especially when they impact his family.

Jay-Z, he added, proves his innocence and moves forward. Jay-Z is now suing Jane Doe and Tony Buzbee for defamation, which they deny. Spiro emphasized that the truth must come out, and the false accusations cannot be allowed to persist.
