NCT Haechan Will Take a Mini Hiatus Due to His Health

While NCT Ten is set to make a comeback soon, seems like NCTzens need to wait on Haechan a bit longer. Deemed by fans as the “Korean Michael Jackson,” NCT Haechan is set to take a hiatus due to his recent health issues. Fans are eager to see their bias back on stage, however, SM Entertainment has something different in mind for now.

NCT Haechan’s Health Status

In a recent update, SM Entertainment shared information about Haechan’s health condition from the popular group NCT. On January 9, a notice on NCT 127 and NCT DREAM’s Weverse communities revealed that Haechan had to interrupt his activities in Japan due to health issues. SM Entertainment stated that they wanted to inform fans about Haechan’s health status and the adjustments to his upcoming scheduled activities.

During scheduled activities in Japan, Haechan returned to Korea on January 8 and sought medical attention at a hospital due to flu symptoms and a high fever. The examination revealed a severe case of tonsillitis, prompting the doctor’s recommendation for plenty of rest and stability. As a result, Haechan will take a break for the time being to facilitate a speedy recovery.

SM Entertainment’s Statement on NCT Heachan’s Health

The posted statement reads as follows:

“Hello.

We want to inform you regarding NCT Haechan’s health status and future scheduled activities.

While in Japan for scheduled activities, Haechan returned to Korea first on January 8 and visited a hospital due to flu symptoms accompanied by a high fever. According to the examination results, he has a severe case of tonsillitis, and the doctor advised that he needs plenty of rest and stability. Thus, Haechan will be taking a break for the time being for his speedy recovery.

Haechan will be unable to participate in the Circle Chart Music Awards 2023 scheduled for January 10 (Wednesday). Thus, NCT DREAM will participate in the Circle Chart Music Awards 2023 as six members Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung. We ask for the generous understanding of fans.

[SM]We will decide on Haechan’s participation in future scheduled activities depending on the state of his recovery, and we will inform you again regarding [this decision].

We apologize for causing concern to fans, and we will do our best so that Haechan can greet fans again in good health.

NCT Latest Release With Haechan

During 2023, NCT was booming with comebacks left and right. We were blessed with lovely sounds such as ISTJ and Baggy Jeans. With all the work that comes with preparing for a comeback, it is no surprise that Haechan’s health has deteriorated a bit.

As of now, Haechan is still an important member of NCT. He is currently involved in two subunits: NCT 127 and NCT DREAM. NCT DREAM released a special EP titled “Candy” on December 16, and NCT 127 is preparing for the launch of a repackaged version of their fourth full-length album, ‘Ay-Yo,’ scheduled for January 30.
