Princess Kate, wife of Prince William, revealed in a personal video message that she was battling cancer. The 42-year-old princess underwent major abdominal surgery in January, initially believed to be non-cancerous. However, post-operative tests revealed cancer, leading to preventative chemotherapy. She expressed gratitude for the support, reassured the public of her determination to recover, and extended solidarity to others facing cancer.

In her own words, she said, “I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirit. Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too. As is the love, support, and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”

Her announcement came amidst speculation about her health and followed King Charles III’s own cancer diagnosis. Despite challenges, the royal family faced these health issues with grace, supported by the public. Kate remained in good spirits, focused on recovery, and planned to return to duties when cleared by her medical team. Prince William continued to support his family and fulfill his duties. When asked about his wife and children, Prince William responded with positivity, stating, “We’re all doing well, thank you.” The lady insisted, “And obviously Catherine?”. He repeated himself saying, “We’re all doing well.” The Prince of Wales was appreciative of the concern shown by those who came out to greet him during his visit to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Continued Public Engagements

Prince William’s visit to the Northeast marked his third day of public engagements since Kate Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis on March 22. The Duchess revealed in a heartfelt video message that she was undergoing chemotherapy. It was necessary following post-operative tests related to her abdominal surgery in January.

Despite the challenging time, the family celebrated several special occasions in late April. This included Prince Louis’ 6th birthday on April 23 and Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 13th wedding anniversary on April 29. Today May 2, they marked the birthday of Princess Charlotte with an Instagram photo of her. The milestones were marked with new portraits, showcasing the family’s resilience and strength amid difficult circumstances.

Throughout his engagements, Prince William has been open about the challenges his family is facing. During a visit to a food distribution charity in Sunbury-on-Thames, England, the Prince accepted cards for his wife and father, King Charles, who is also undergoing cancer treatment. He expressed gratitude for the support shown to his family during this time.
