This was a significant increase from her $3,500 earnings for “Bridesmaids” in 2011. Despite the modest pay for “Bridesmaids,” Wilson was content as it helped her join the SAG-AFTRA union.

According to Vanity Fair, Rebel Wilson mentioned in her memoir that her agency preferred her to remain overweight because they earned substantial commissions, amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars, for each film where she portrayed the “fat funny girl” character.

In an interview with The New York Times, Rebel Wilson disclosed that Universal Pictures initially offered her $9 million for her role in “Pitch Perfect,” but she negotiated for a higher amount, eventually securing a deal in the eight-figure range. Wilson mentioned leveraging the success of the “Pitch Perfect” franchise to her advantage and ultimately requesting an additional million dollars to round the offer up to $10 million.
