“And I thought, ‘I don’t think I’m in “The Avengers.”‘ It was an astonishing amount of money,” he added jokingly.

He did not give all the details about the money, but he said enough. He explained, “It was not his salary; it was his first box-office bonus. Not the whole box office, the first one. It was more money than I’ve ever… It was a 7-figure sum. He was 20 or something.”

The “Pride and Prejudice” and “The White Lotus” actor accepted the revelation of the megabucks that slipped through his fingers. Hollander took it in stride, summing up the wild ride of showbiz with a cool, “It’s up, it’s down. It’s hero, it’s zero.”
