Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures have unveiled the official trailer for The Black Phone 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2022 horror hit. Directed by Scott Derrickson, the film sees Ethan Hawke reprising his role as the sinister Grabber, now haunting the afterlife. Set to release on October 17, 2025, the sequel promises a deeper dive into supernatural terror.

A Haunting Continuation of “The Black Phone”

Set four years after the original, The Black Phone 2 follows Finney (Mason Thames), now 17, and his sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw), 15. Gwen begins experiencing disturbing visions and dreamlike calls from the black phone, leading them to Alpine Lake, a winter camp shrouded in mystery. There, they confront the Grabber’s malevolent spirit, uncovering a chilling connection to their family’s past.

Returning Cast and New Faces

Alongside Hawke, Thames, and McGraw, the sequel features returning actors Jeremy Davies and Miguel Mora. New additions include Demián Bichir and Arianna Rivas, adding depth to the film’s ensemble. The screenplay, penned by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, continues to draw inspiration from Joe Hill’s original short story.

A Glimpse into the Supernatural

The trailer showcases Derrickson’s signature blend of psychological horror and supernatural elements. With eerie visuals reminiscent of his earlier work in Sinister, the film explores themes of trauma, familial bonds, and the lingering presence of evil. The Grabber’s return as a spectral entity adds a new layer of terror, blurring the lines between reality and nightmare.
