The 25-year-old model, and Lionel Richie’s daughter, is about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime – parenthood! Recently, Sofia and her hubby Elliot Grainge spilled the beans about their upcoming bundle of joy in the most delightful way possible – a TikTok video capturing the magical gender reveal in their backyard.

Just to put things into perspective, Elliot Grainge, 30 years old, is the son of Lucian Grainge, the chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group. He and Lionel Richie are old friends and Sofia has known her now husband all her life. In April 2023, Elliot and Sofia tied the knot on April 22, 2023, at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in the South of France.

But that’s not all. Our girl decided to take things up a notch and went all out with a Vogue photoshoot to share the exciting news. Bump-baring shirts, tank tops, and some chic loose tailoring – she rocked them all while confirming that a little one was on the way. The reveal happened after a wild trip to Milan Fashion Week. She thought that the way she felt was jet lag but it turned out to be morning sickness. Sneaky, right?

Telling Her Parents

In the Vogue interview, pregnant Sofia Richie spilled the beans on how they broke the big news to their parents – hiding positive pregnancy tests in designer gift boxes after a Milan shopping spree. The reactions? From “I’m getting an expensive present” to “I’m getting a grandchild” – talk about a rollercoaster of emotions!

“I think I had a box—I want to say it was a Hermès box or some sort of box—and I told everyone that I had bought them a gift from Milan Fashion Week,” she conveyed. “Everyone was like ‘Ooooh Hermes!’ But then they opened it and it had all three of the pregnancy tests [in it]. That’s how we told all of our parents.”

Now, as Sofia embraces the final weeks of pregnancy, she is keeping it real. She has learned more in the past six months than ever before, and she is in awe of what the female body can do. But let’s not forget the tears. Yep, she had a “cry week.” Crying at the wall paint, crying about everything – we’ve all been there, right? Her honesty about the emotional ups and downs is just so relatable.

But what about privacy, you ask? Sofia’s got that covered too. Despite being the ‘It girl’ with a massive following, she is taking a step back from social media during the early stages of her pregnancy. She wants to keep things close-knit, protecting her mental health and the couple’s space.

And here’s the kicker – she is not planning to turn her baby into an Instagram sensation. Sofia wants her child to have the freedom to choose her own path, away from the constant glare of the spotlight.

“I want my child to be a child, I’m not going to publicize my child on Instagram,” she said. “If she wants to be a private person, I want her to be able to make that choice, and if she wants to be a public person, she can make that choice for herself.” Respect, right?

When asked about the due date, she kept that to herself by saying, “She’s growing pretty fast, so [the due date] is a bit up in the air.”
