A woman was arrested at Canberra Airport after the chaos she caused trying to catch her plane. Everyone at the airport witnessed a wild scene when a woman started to behave dangerously in a desperate attempt to catch a flight she’d missed. What did she do? Was everyone safe? Does this happen often? Watch the video in the article below.
The Despair of Missing a Flight
Losing a flight can be the most anxious thing to experience. But only some would go to extremes to catch it. However, there are some as was a woman in Australia at Canberra Airport. The unknown woman decided to make a daring dash onto the tarmac to catch a flight she’d missed. Passengers waiting at the airport caught the whole ordeal on video. You can see her standing beneath the plane, waving and gesturing, trying to get the pilot’s attention.
The whole thing left onlookers scratching their heads. One guy, Dennis Bilic, who filmed the whole thing, said people seemed unsure what to do.
For 9News Dennis said: “People were a bit flat-footed, they didn’t seem to know what to do, that was the weird part. According to him, everyone was thinking, “Is anyone going to stop her?”
Others who witnessed the incident also talked about it. Another witness, Simon Hales, called it “bizarre” and mentioned how the woman just wouldn’t give up on catching her flight. He took to Facebook to write, “A lady who had missed her flight clearly thought she could still catch it … luckily the pilot was warned or spotted her and killed the engine.”
He continued by explaining that the women “pushed past the staff at the door, ran down onto the tarmac and ran up to the plane.”
It was not reported why was she in such a hurry, nor what made her panicking and behaving in such a dangerous way. That being said, it was reported that she did have some drugs with her.
Luckily, the plane did not take off, otherwise, there could have been consequences.
Airport Security Incident
Luckily, airport security stepped in pretty quickly and got her off the tarmac. The Australian Federal Police later confirmed they arrested the woman who caused chaos at the airport. They accused her of a few charges including sneaking into restricted areas, damaging stuff, and having a bit of cannabis on her.
Despite the commotion, the flight delays were minimal, just about 10 minutes or so.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, either. Back in 2021, a woman tried a similar stunt at Los Angeles International Airport, attempting to flag down a plane after it had already landed. At the time, the woman had been taken to hospital for a mental health evaluation.
This incident serves as a good reminder that airports tightly control their premises, and running onto the tarmac isn’t the best way to catch a flight!
