Stuart Craig, the acclaimed British production designer renowned for his work on The English Patient, The Elephant Man, and the Harry Potter series, has passed away at the age of 83 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

His family confirmed his death, stating he died peacefully at home on Sunday, leaving behind a legacy of cinematic brilliance and a reputation for kindness and generosity.

Stuart Craig: A Storied Career in Film

Craig’s illustrious career spanned over four decades, during which he contributed to some of the most memorable worlds in cinematic history. He won Academy Awards for Best Art Direction for Gandhi (1982), Dangerous Liaisons (1988), and The English Patient (1996). In addition to his Oscar wins, Craig received eight more nominations, including four for his work on the Harry Potter films.

His achievements at the BAFTAs were equally impressive, with 16 nominations and three wins.
