Yes, The Barbenheimer Movie Is Actually Coming Soon!

Who knew we would still be talking about Barbie and Oppenheimer until the end of the year? I certainly did not! Well, here we are yet again. However, this time, we won’t be talking about the huge success that both of these movies got. Instead, this is a whole different situation. It is still linked to Barbenheimer, but not quite so at the same time. We present to you the Barbenheimer movie! Yes, you read that right. It is happening! But it is not what you are expecting it to be.

The New Barbenheimer Movie

“Barbenheimer” generated massive box office success, leading to a unique consequence. Inspired by the popularity of Barbie and Oppenheimer, a comedy film is in the works featuring a doll scientist creating an atomic bomb to humorously address the potential fallout for humanity, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The upcoming “Barbenheimer” movie, is real and was offered for sale at the American Film Market. The film’s plot revolves around Dr. Bambi J. Barbenheimer, a scientist doll from Dolltopia, and her boyfriend Twink Dollman. Dr. Barbenheimer, after entering the real world, plans to seek nuclear revenge on humans for mistreating dolls. The film is expected to feature several songs, with one possibly being titled “I’m Just Ken.” A teaser tagline for the movie reads, “D-Cup, A-Bomb.” The cast has not been announced yet.

The Low Budget Premiere

Charles Band, a veteran of B-movies known for producing low-budget films through Full Moon Features, is behind “Barbenheimer,” which is unabashedly a money-making venture. Band openly acknowledges that the movie is a “100 percent” attempt to capitalize on the success of Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan’s concurrent releases. However, he sees it as an opportunity to have fun with the unusual combination of Barbie’s cheerful image and the seriousness of Oppenheimer, aiming to create dark humor. Full Moon Features plans to profit from the film by selling Barbenheimer dolls, as reported by THR.

When Is the Barbenheimer Movie Dropping?

The release date for “Barbenheimer” is uncertain. Initially, there were reports that the movie was targeting a Christmas release on Prime Video and Full Moon’s streaming platform, but Insider states that filming won’t commence until 2024. As there hasn’t been an official announcement, the exact release date for “Barbenheimer” is currently to be determined (TBD).

Mattel Wants In!

The movie “Barbie,” directed and written by Greta Gerwig, is causing a frenzy, setting records for the highest opening weekend by a solo female director. It earned a substantial $380 million globally within its first five days in theaters. Due to this success, Mattel and Warner Bros. are hinting at an upcoming major film project.

Mattel’s CEO, Ynon Kreiz, is expanding the company’s cinematic universe with over a dozen projects currently in active development, totaling 14. These projects include a Barney film produced by Daniel Kaluuya, a Polly Pocket movie featuring Lily Collins, and a Thomas and Friends production directed by Marc Forster. Mattel executives expressed their hopes to create sequels and expand the Barbie franchise even further, given its broad brand with various iterations, including family and other elements in Barbie’s universe.
