Catherine Janice Ipsan, born on Jan. 20, 1993, was raised in a musical family near Washington, D.C. She played violin and piano, influenced by her mother, a radio DJ. Despite studying geology and working as a geospatial analyst, music remained her passion and outlet. Diagnosed with sarcoma in 2022, she shared her journey on TikTok, undergoing surgery and chemotherapy. Her husband, Kyle Higginbotham, described her openness about her battle with cancer, which coincided with her musical pursuits.

She dedicated the song to him, changing the rights so that all proceeds would benefit him. The track has been featured in over two million TikTok videos and marked her first entry into the Billboard charts.
